This is a little more W/E -- on the way to World's End -- for prompt 67 on the [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100 table ("Snow") and also for the current challenge at Black Pearl Sails ("Trunk").

67. Snow

Ice began to slide by them in the frigid water. When the first flakes of snow began to fall, Will said to Elizabeth, "Come below. There's no use freezing when you're not on watch."

"No. Not now. I need to stay." She stood silent at the rail, looking out at the vast ocean, hugging herself against the cold.

Barbossa beckoned Will. "There's a trunk in the aft hold," he said quietly. "Fetch 'er something."

It was of oriental design, rosewood bound with brass and, on opening it, Will discovered it full of fur rugs and capes. He took the finest of them for her.

With a brief nod to Barbossa, Will placed the cape, warm and soft, around Elizabeth's slender shoulders.

"Oh! Thank you!" She turned to him.

Her smile, the first they’d exchanged in days, dazzled him, and his heart ached for love-- and for what might have been.

I think you're right about the outcome of the characters and their relationship(s). That's probably why most of us are writing fics between CotBP and DMC.

Yes! I loved it. Kinda a prelude to my "Lessons."

I've been working on a new one for a while and I'm having a terrible time finishing it. *bites nails*

Have you considered the hard time you're having is because you want to write W/E and while you're fairly confident things will end that way, and hope for it, there's part of your writing brain that really doubts it? And that's somehow interfering with being able to finish what you *really* want to produce? (I know how hard it was to write J/W after DMC - I haven't done much and I really had to push and shove myself to get any inspiration for it.)

I'm done with the W/E part of the fic and I did consider those thoughts for a while. And, while I think they did hinder the process at first, I don't think it's why I'm not able to write now.
I'm now having trouble with the ending of it. Really, Weatherby and Estrella.

That, and I'm burned out on writing from work.

Occupational hazard ....

(BTW, are you so burned out you wouldn't be interested in submitting a couple of clips and a resume to my editor? He mentioned something about wanting writers in the eastern part of the state, and I brought you up again.)

I have been working on my resume to send out after Tuesday (appointment with the neurosurgeon), so yeah. You will need to send me the address to send the stuff.
Does he only want agriculture stories? I haven't written one of those in a couple of years. *bites nails*

Pretty much anything having to do with ag, farmers, rural life. Including government actions (mostly state, possibly if there's any federal participation as well) and laws/legislation. And in case I didn't make it clear - but I think you already know - it's just freelance, not full-time or anything.

Don't worry - when I started 5 years ago, I'd never written ag before and had to teach myself. And now I work at the damn place! LOL

I've written some ag stuff, but not much. If I send an airport story and a city council, would that be all right?

I think anything you wrote between 400 and 600 words that shows you're competent, know how to interview sources, and can explain concepts to readers or interpret government is valuable.

OK, I can do that no later than next weekend.

And, yes, I understand it's freelance. I'm looking for work elsewhere, but anything extra will be very welcome.

Thanks!
